Revisional surgery
Info
Re-sleeve gastrectomy is an effective revisional surgery technique for patients who have had an unsuccessful sleeve gastrectomy due to insufficient fundus resection or having a large stomach. It involves removing a portion of the stomach and reshaping the remaining portion to create a new sleeve. This can lead to improved weight loss and better control of comorbidities such as diabetes and hypertension.
Even if sleeve gastrectomy is performed correctly, mini gastric bypass can be used as a revisional surgery technique in patients with insufficient weight loss or weight regain, particularly those who have a sweet tooth. RNY gastric bypass is a viable revisional surgery option for patients experiencing severe reflux issues following sleeve gastrectomy or nutritional problems caused by torsion and stenosis in the distal stomach.
In cases where patients have insufficient weight loss or regain weight after a properly performed sleeve gastrectomy, mini gastric bypass can be used as a revisional surgical technique due to its absorption-reducing method, especially for patients who have difficulties controlling their sweet cravings.
On the other hand, RNY gastric bypass can be used as a revisional surgery method in patients who experience severe reflux complaints or have nutritional issues due to torsion and stenosis in the distal stomach after sleeve gastrectomy.
